James Lanigan

LORRY OWNER- Jim Lanigan, of Fiddawn, Inistioge, Kilkenny is the owner of the Lorry Registration >  No: 97.C.12780  with

Trailer >  No: AK 1415  been the vehicle involved in the fatal crash causing the death of Graham Norris at Graiguerush, Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford. He is a Haulier that took no responsibility for the condition of the vehicle that

he had in use on the public roads.

The Lorry had in excess of 950,000. Miles recorded on the clock while the trailer was 19 years old and was never recorded as having had an MOT Test carried out on it. The Vehicle having been examined at the scene of the crash was

impounded and moved to a location used  by

Gardai for a full inspection.

 

 

Vehicle Inspector Garda Sgt. Joe Robinson

found the following defects:

(1) That the Vehicle had no Certificate of Road Worthiness

(2) That the rear under run protective device was missing

(3) That the trailer side lighting was not working

(4) That the side markings were invisible due to dirt & grease

(5) That the vehicle had defective brakes system' 17% out 100%.

(6) That the upright supports for holding timber had dropped past the

socket holders covering off the side light fittings.

(7) That the Crane was loose on the platform

(8) That studs were missing from the wheels.

(9) That he allowed driver Stephen Kelly to use this Vehicle on the

public road.

 

Jim Lanigan, was Convicted at Kilmacthomas District Court on February 21st 2007 & Fined a Total 1700.Euro.

Jim Lanigan, Claims he is a Family man with a Son of his own. Yet he did not ever contact the Parents or Family of Graham Norris either directly or indirectly in the days / weeks or months following his death.

 

He did not attend Grahams Removal or his Funeral.

He did not offer a Mass Card or one Word of Sympathy to the

Norris Family.

 

While his Lorry was Impounded Lanigan contacted Gardai on a near daily basis enquiring when could he have his Lorry back.

When he got it back he put it back working in the immediate area where Grahams family who then had to cope with meeting this killer lorry outside there house on a near daily basis
